About this performance

The Sound of Spring: Beethoven, Elgar, Ho

Orchestra Toronto celebrates the vibrancy of nature and human emotion in this program. The concert opens with Alice Ho’s Jubilation of Spring, a bright and dynamic work that captures the energy, color, and renewal of the season through inventive orchestral textures. Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor, featuring Cellist Lucia Ticho, follows, a deeply introspective and lyrical masterpiece that showcases Ticho’s expressive range while conveying themes of loss, reflection, and hope. The program concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral”, a work that evokes the tranquility and rhythms of the countryside, celebrating humanity’s connection to the natural world with warmth, charm, and compositional ingenuity.
