To close the season, Orchestra Toronto performs one of the most ambitious and transcendent works in the orchestral repertoire: Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, the “Resurrection.” Spanning themes of death, renewal, and spiritual awakening, the symphony moves from funeral march to cosmic finale with overwhelming emotional force. Featuring soprano Leslie Ann Bradley and mezzo-soprano Simona Genga, this performance brings together large-scale orchestral and vocal forces in a work that redefines the possibilities of the symphonic form and affirms music’s power to confront, and ultimately transcend, our deepest existential questions.
