Starting his piano lessons at the age of five, Xiaoping Ma has grown into one of the most active young pianists.  After immigrating to Canada in 2008, Xiaoping Ma carried on his piano studies under the instruction of Andrew Burashko where he continued to develop the depth of his understanding of music and polish his musicianship and performance techniques.  With multiple years of composition experience and a unique perception on music harmony, Xiaoping Ma is extremely passionate about advancing his music career.

 

Born in Tian Jin China, Xiaoping Ma began his piano studies with professor Yuan Xie at the Piano School of the Tian Jin Conservatory of Music.  He furthered his studies with renowned Chinese pianist and educator Huiqiao Bao.  As an outstanding student of Ms. Bao, Xiaoping Ma has performed on various concert tours in China.  In 2002, he was also selected to join a group of Chinese pianists to perform on a concert tour to the United States.  In 2004, Xiaoping Ma entered the Music School of the Chinese Central Conservatory of Music with exceptional standing.  As a competitive performer, Xiaoping Ma has won a number of important competitions in China including a first place at the Parsons Piano Cup Competition in 1998 and a first place at the 10^th Hong Kong Piano Open Competition in 1999.
